Calicut University Distance Education
The Calicut University Distance Education was founded in 1968 and is currently the largest university in Kerala in terms of area, associated colleges, and degrees granted. It is Kerala's second university to be established. The university serves the needs and goals of young people in the Malabar region, which includes among of the state's least developed regions in terms of education. With 406 affiliated institutions and 34 post-graduate departments, UoC has grown to become the largest residential/affiliating university in Kerala, living up to its motto, "Nirmaya Karmana Sree," which means "prosperity will be generated through pure actions." The Legislative Assembly of Kerala approved the Calicut University Act in 1975, which serves as its governing law.
